How are we different? Why does it matter?
Our approach to physical therapy examination and treatment demands “one-to-one” care. Whether you are working with your physical therapist or licensed physical therapist assistant, you have their undivided attention. We do not have professional staff attempting to see 2, 3, or more patients at once. We provide a personal level of care, which is best provided in private treatment rooms. Most, if not all, of your physical therapy examination treatment is performed in private. This is quite different than being treated on a table in a gym with a half dozen other patients.
We provide physical therapy examination and treatment for a wide variety of painful musculoskeletal problems ranging from headaches to foot pain. Some patients need us to address just a specific area of the body but we are able to expand this to a comprehensive “full body” approach whenever necessary.
We provide extensive “hands-on” care in examination and treatment to specifically identify key issues and improve them to help the affected area of the body work effectively with the rest of the body. We can incorporate a broad spectrum of manual therapies from joint and soft tissue mobilization for the spine and extremities to myofascial release and craniosacral therapy.
Exercise is critically important in the physical rehabilitation process. Patients are instructed in specific exercises to address their individual needs for any region of the body as well as addressing core strength and posture as well as functional strength, flexibility, and endurance for daily or athletic activities.
We place a strong emphasis on patient education. An educated patient is far more likely to comply with their home program. We explain physical therapy exam findings in plain English as well as the purpose of our “homework/home exercise program”. We also provide extensive individualized instruction to improve functional performance for activities as simple as getting out of bed and performing basic daily activities as well as advanced activities such as recreational and competitive sports.
Everson Orthopedic and Joint Venture Rehabilitation offer several special programs and services.
Spine Rehabilitation Program: Manual therapy, therapeutic exercise, and patient education applied on an individual basis for patients with acute, sub-acute, or chronic spine pain and disability.
Goals:
Spine Decompression: Spine decompression is a treatment where levels of the spine, most commonly in the neck or lower back, are pulled apart using a special device to relieve pressure on irritated tissues of the spine. We have used the 3D ActiveTrac spine decompression system for seven years. Contrary to some spine decompression advertising, this is not a “cure all” but can be immensely helpful in the treatment of appropriate patients with challenging lower back or neck problems.
ATM2 (BackProject Corporation): ATM refers to “Active Therapeutic Movement” using a remarkable concept in spine exercise. You may have to experience this to believe it! Using this unique device, we can quickly improve spine pain and range of motion with appropriate patients. For most spine patients we expect an immediate improvement.
The ATM2 is also used for performance improvement (even if there is not pain) for any activity requiring better core strength, control, and range of motion. This can be tremendously helpful for any sport where improved core strength / control will improve performance. This applies to golf, tennis, baseball, and any contact sport.
Total Motion Release (TMR): TMR is an exercise-based self-examination and treatment system that virtually everyone can learn. Take our class (about 90 min), and with a little practice you will be able to do a practical examination of your own movement imbalances and know how to treat and improve them immediately. Go to http://totalmotionrelease.com to see some amazing results patients can get with TMR.
Computerized Balance Testing: Poor balance creates a number of serious safety issues for many older people and some younger people. Balance issues are routinely addressed as part of our physical therapy examination and treatment. Our computerized balance testing is safe and provides objective, informative data on a patient’s risk for suffering a fall.
